Hanging Wooden Bird Feeder | DIY Assembled Birdhouse Aviary Feeding Station, Decorative Garden Birdcage Feeder, Large/Small

A hanging wooden bird feeder built like a miniature aviary, supplied flat for DIY assembly — which is half the pleasure of it. The burlywood timber and open birdcage framing make it as much a piece of garden decor as a feeding station, and it looks properly at home hanging in an apple tree or from a pergola beam.

Wood has a real advantage over plastic here: birds land on it more readily, it doesn't rattle in wind, and it weathers into the garden rather than staying stubbornly new-looking. Choose the large size for a busy garden with a resident flock, or the smaller trumpet shape for a balcony, courtyard or single feeding spot near a window.

Why you'll love it

• Natural burlywood timber — birds settle on wood far more readily than plastic.
• DIY assembly — a satisfying half-hour build, no specialist tools.
• Decorative aviary design — a garden ornament that happens to feed birds.
• Two sizes — large for busy gardens, trumpet for balconies and courtyards.
• Hangs anywhere — tree branch, pergola, bracket, balcony rail.
• Weathers beautifully — silvers gently and settles into the planting.

Details

• Material: burlywood timber, flat-packed for self assembly
• Sizes/Options: large size or trumpet (small)
• Care: brush out old seed regularly and let it dry; site under some shelter where possible; a coat of exterior wood oil each spring extends its life considerably
• Ideal for: garden and back yard, balcony and courtyard, pergola and porch, bird watching, wildlife gardening, gardener gifts

Practical tip: oil the timber before you hang it for the first time, not after a season outdoors. Untreated wood soaks up its first winter of rain, and once it has swelled and dried repeatedly the joints never sit as tightly again.
