Description

A substantial double-sided board in solid acacia or bamboo, with a deep juice groove routed around one face. The groove is what makes it worth having: carve a roast chicken or rest a steak on it and the juices run into the channel rather than across the worktop. Flip it over and the second face is flat and unbroken — the side you use for bread, cheese and charcuterie, or for carrying the whole spread to the table.

Acacia is dense, close-grained and naturally water-resistant, with a rich figured colour that darkens handsomely with oiling; bamboo is lighter, paler, harder on the surface and quicker to dry. Both are far kinder to knife edges than glass or plastic, and both are thick enough not to warp the way a thin board does after a year. As a serving board it's genuinely presentable — a cheese board for guests, a charcuterie platter, a bread board on a dining table — which is the argument for a good board over a cheap one.

Why you'll love it

  • Deep juice groove — catches the liquid from roasts, steaks and carved meat instead of losing it to the counter.
  • Double-sided — grooved face for carving, flat face for bread, cheese and serving.
  • Acacia or bamboo — dense figured hardwood, or lighter, faster-drying bamboo.
  • Knife-friendly — end-grain-kind wood that preserves your blades where glass and plastic dull them.
  • Substantial thickness — stays flat and stable rather than warping or sliding.
  • Serves as well as it chops — a proper charcuterie and cheese board for entertaining.

Details

  • Material: solid acacia wood or bamboo
  • Features: juice groove on one face, flat serving face on the reverse
  • Use: chopping and carving meat and vegetables; serving cheese, charcuterie and bread
  • Care: hand wash and dry immediately; never soak or put in the dishwasher; oil regularly with a food-safe board oil
  • Ideal for: kitchen worktops, dining tables, entertaining and charcuterie, meal prep, farmhouse and Japandi kitchens

Care tip — a wooden board that splits has almost always been left wet or been through a dishwasher. Wash it by hand, stand it on edge to dry, and oil it whenever the surface starts to look pale; done that way, a board like this outlasts most kitchens.
